After a very successful fundraiser a few weeks ago, we continue to transition into the late-fall market season with more greens, more comfort food, and hints of the holidays to come.  Tuesday markets are done for the season, but the BIG news is that Horse Creek Tree Farm is returning to The Tailgate beginning Friday, November 28th for their second season selling freshly cut Christmas trees and handmade wreaths.

They bring a new crop of trees to the market each weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas on Fridays, Saturdays, and some Sundays.  Hours will be 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.  We will also feature a Christmas market on Saturdays December 6, 13th, and 20th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  You can buy produce, meat (ostrich and chicken), eggs, alpaca yarn, teas, soaps, jewelry, chocolate, and other gift items.  If you are baking in a certified kitchen, growing herbs, or making crafts by hand that you think would be a good addition to the mix for the month of December, then send an inquiry to info@charlottetailgatemarket.com.

We are loving our new location at 100 West Park Avenue, and continue to grow with more variety, more vendors, and more opportunities to serve you.

Though we have a new home and a slightly more gussied-up presentation, we are still the only local food farmers market in Charlotte.  We are still 100% fresh, fun, and funky.  And we will always strive to showcase and serve the growers and producers who make this market possible.

The Tailgate is an urban farmers market committed to local food and local farms.   That will never change.

Look forward to, when available and in season:

  • Vegetables and some fruits.
  • Plants, herbs, and flowers, including orchids!
  • Eggs.  Fresh, free range.  Sooo pretty.  Every one is different.
  • Pastured pork products, grass fed beef, ostrich and chicken.
  • Dairy - new this year!
  • Baked goods and chocolate truffles.  Yum!
  • Honey!  Local beekeepers are sharing the bounty, and providing an education.
  • Prepared foods made with local ingredients.
  • Soap, candles, jewelry, and other hand-crafted items.
  • Lots of practical menu ideas and fanciful suggestions.
  • Friends, neighbors, and pets of all varieties.

You won't find resellers, chemicals, or pesticides here.  Only local growers and producers, committed to sustainable agriculture and educated consumers.

Sign up for our bi-weekly e-mail newsletter.  This is an especially good idea because the Tuesday market and the Saturday market are somewhat different.  The newsletter will let you know who and what to expect!

We're actively looking for local farmers and growers, so if you or someone you know might be interested in vending, then put us in touch without delay!  Please send email to info@charlottetailgatemarket.com.
